Identification of a CBA criteria to assess INVITE innovations

Over the past three years, the INVITE project has focused on developing technological and institutional innovations aimed at improving the plant variety testing process.

Within these tasks, CREDA-UPC-IRTA has conducted a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) to assess the economic, social and environmental impacts of INVITE’s innovations applied to wheat and apple case studies. The objective was to select those innovations that are ready to scale up and/or have great potential to be adopted by registration offices. To do so, various activities have been conducted to identify a set of suitable criteria to perform an impact assessment and CBA.

The CBA was performed at the end of 2023 and the analysis will contribute to facilitating the decision-making process regarding INVITE’s innovation diffusion and scaling up.
