Project data sharing

The work carried out in the INVITE project is based on phenotyping and genotyping data generated by the partners during the project or from historical databases from Examination Offices and Post-Registration Offices associated with the project.

In order to provide a framework for the exchange of data, INVITE has drafted a Data Management Plan, the current version of which is available here.

In addition to the Data Management Plan, a common data sharing system has been developed to allow researchers, data providers and data users to manage all the data collected and generated in the project.

This data sharing system is a set of three tools :

1) A shared online folder (Nextcloud software, hosted exclusively in the EU) to store any data types and datasets. Available at: https://nextcloud.h2020-invite.eu/

2) An API and data flows repository (using API-AGRO platform) to expose urls and API where some datasets can be accessed. In this case, the data provider is responsible for the data storage and the data access management. Available at: https://platform.api-agro.eu/members/login

3) A code and documents repository instance (Gitlab software) hosted by Naktuinbouw for the prototype code and versioned datasets. It enables version control on codes and documents.  Available at: https://gitlab.h2020-invite.eu/users/sign_in

These three platforms are accessible by password only for the project partners.

In order to help INVITE partners to choose the most appropriate data sharing tool for their needs, the decision tree presented below has been created.
