Update: Results from the CBA of INVITE innovations

INVITE partners CREDA-UPC-IRTA has conducted a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) of innovations resulting from the project’s activities. The analysis sets out to assess the impact of the INVITE innovations on plant variety testing and the scaling-up potential. For this purpose, nine innovations were selected, encompassing phenotyping and genotyping tools, the optimisation of VCU networks and the harmonisation of VCU protocols.

The analysis shows that there is promising potential for selected technologies in variety testing. However, scaling up to a broader range of traits or extending to other crops would be necessary to achieve a positive return on investment.

This crucial work carried out highlights INVITE’s role as an innovation platform facilitating knowledge sharing and making these technologies accessible. The valuable insights resulting from the CBA will significantly contribute to ongoing discussions involving a broad spectrum of stakeholders in the context of the project activities.
